February 2010
February was the Roman month of Februarius. The name came from the Latin verb februare (to purify). The Roman festival of purification was held on 15 February. February originally had 30 days but one day was taken away and added to July when it was renamed in honour of Julius Caesar. The Anglo-Saxons called it Lenet monath (lengthening month) because the days became longer.
